The recognition came through a vote in the Green Destinations.
Lagos won 7th place in the “People’s Choice” category of the Green Destinations People’s Choice Awards, in which it received 15,000 votes from participants from around the world.
The Green Destinations platform annually recognizes destinations that have implemented successful strategies for more sustainable tourism, through a panel of independent evaluators who analyze criteria such as health, accessibility, environment, safety and sustainability. Lagos ended up in the TOP 100 international locations, the only municipality in the Algarve to appear on the list.
In addition Lagos was chosen among the 100 best sustainable destinations worldwide to visit, by the Good Travel Guide. The recognition reinforces the environmental sustainability that the area has been seeking, ensuring a more environmentally friendly tourist destination in order to enhance its natural resources.
