Portugal: The Ideal Destination for Retirement and Real Estate Investment

Portugal is leading the way as the best country in which to retire, according to a study carried out by ‘Moving to Spain’, which takes into account 10 parameters such as the quality of health and annual hours of sunshine.

According to the website, ‘Portugal is a safe country, with a high percentage of its population aged 65 or over. It offers plenty of sunshine, good quality beaches (…). If we add to this spectacular golf courses and wonderful landscapes, we have the complete package.

Another point considered was the D7 visa, which allows people with a fixed income in another country to live in Portugal, offering an advantageous plan for foreign retirees.

This ranking further endorses the ‘GLOBAL PEACE INDEX’ study, which analyzes the country’s level of peace and security. As Europe is the most peaceful region in the world, home to seven of the ten most peaceful countries, Portugal stands out, ranking 5th in Europe and 6th in the world.

In this study, 23 qualitative and quantitative metrics were considered, including: the level of societal Safety and Security; the extent of Ongoing Domestic and International Conflict; and the degree of Militarisation.

Despite the increase in generalized inflation in the country, the desire to find the perfect home and invest in property continues. More than a simple transaction, buying a property is a step towards stability and sunnier days.
